The City of Rome Water Department is currently responding to a water main break on NYS Rt 69 -Rome Taberg Road. The break was probably caused by the temperature differences the area has been experiencing. This 12” water main supplies domestic water and fire protection to the west side of the City of Rome limits. The water line is expected to be turned off at 12:00pm (noon) today and is expected to be off for several hours or until a successful repair can be made. Water service will be limited or OFF along NYS RT 69 from Link Road to the City of Rome limit, Gore Road from NYS RT 69 to the City Limit, Forest Ridge Lane, and Humaston Road from NYS RT 69 to Oswego Road. NYSDOT will assist the City of Rome with traffic control measures. Please avoid the area if possible as the incident area will be an active construction zone from this point until completion. If you need to travel NYS RT 69 in this area, please use caution and be aware of construction personnel and vehicles. The City of Rome will provide updates as to the status of the repair as the project progresses.
