The City of Rome has launched its newly redesigned municipal website, romeny.gov. The new site provides residents and taxpayers with a more user-friendly, accessible, and efficient way to connect with City government. Improved navigation and organization make it easier for residents to find City information, services, documents, meetings, events, and contact information.
The new site also integrates fully with the City’s RomeIQ application, giving residents a convenient way to report issues, request assistance, and communicate directly with the City. Residents can also sign up to receive City notifications and important updates via push notifications, emails, text messages or phone calls.
An expanded calendar of events provides a central location for information about what’s happening throughout City government and the community.
“We wanted to build a website that works for the residents of Rome, not one that simply provides information,” said Mayor Jeffrey M. Lanigan. “The new site is much easier to navigate, and it puts information at people’s fingertips. When residents can find an answer themselves in a matter of seconds, it saves them the time of having to call or email, and that allows our employees to spend more time addressing the issues that require their attention.”
Mayor Lanigan added, “This is about transparency, accessibility and efficiency. We want residents to have ready access to their government and the information they need, while also giving our employees better tools to respond to issues and requests in a timely manner. Making information easier to find ultimately makes City government more efficient.”
The transition to the new website has involved moving hundreds of pages of information, documents, photographs and other content from the City’s previous website. While City staff and the website development team have worked extensively to ensure that information is accurate and easy to use, residents are encouraged to report any errors, broken links or other issues they encounter by reporting the issue in the RomeIQ application or through the RomeIQ page on the new website at https://romeny.gov/romeiq/.
The City’s new .gov domain also adds a layer of security and confidence for residents. The .gov domain is restricted to verified U.S. government organizations, including municipalities and other government entities, helping distinguish official government websites and email addresses from sites that may attempt to impersonate government agencies. As phishing emails and other internet scams circulate, this is an important step in protecting our residents from those who may try to harm them, often financially.
The launch of romeny.gov represents another step in Mayor Lanigan’s commitment to providing greater transparency, improved access to information, and more efficient government services for the residents and taxpayers of the City of Rome.
Visitors who use the City’s former website address will be automatically forwarded to https://romeny.gov.
