Animal Control offers many services to citizens including:

• The impoundment of stray dogs and dogs running at large. Every effort is taken to return lost and found dogs to their rightful owners.
• Handling complaints for violations of the Rome City Code of Ordinances regarding dogs.
• Advice and referrals for handling wildlife.

To report abuse of a dog or other animal, please call 911 to be directed to the appropriate agency responsible for the investigation.

Rome Animal Control hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. If your issue falls outside the regular workday and you need an immediate police response, please dial 911.

The City of Rome requires an approved application to be on file before you can schedule a meet and greet with any of the dogs up for adoption at the Animal Control facility. Please fill out the Dog Adoption Application and call to schedule your appointment.
