Waterfront DRI Local Planning Committee Meeting #1

July 9, 2026

The City of Rome will hold its first Waterfront Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) Local Planning Committee meeting on Thursday, July 9th, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. The meeting is open to the public and will take place in the City Hall Lobby at 198 N Washington Street, Rome, NY.
The first LPC meeting will begin the process of developing the Rome Waterfront DRI Strategic Investment Plan. The Plan will examine local assets and opportunities, define a community vision for revitalization, and identify a list of transformative public and private projects. The Plan will be developed through a community-led process over the next several months, with regular opportunities for public input. The community will be invited to submit their project proposals through an Open Call for Projects (further information forthcoming). Following an in-depth review process, the LPC will select a slate of recommended projects to include in the final Plan. The NYS Department of State will evaluate the projects outlined in the Plan and then choose which projects will receive DRI funding.
The Local Planning Committee (LPC) is made up of representatives of local businesses, institutions, and community groups and will lead the development of the Plan, supported by a team of experts. The committee is co-chaired by Jeffrey M. Lanigan, Mayor of the City of Rome, and Charles Green, member of the Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council.
