“This has been a wonderful summer at Franklyn’s Field, and we’ve been fortunate to see so many children enjoying the Parks Program, spending time with friends, and taking advantage of everything that our recreation program has to offer,” said Mayor Lanigan. “With summer winding down, we thought, why not keep the fun going for one more week?”

Franklyn’s Field will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. August 17-21, 2026.

The City is also planning special activities to help make the final week memorable for local children. On Thursday, the City will host a Free Slush Day, with each park patron eligible to receive one free slush. City officials are also working to arrange an additional fun event for children during the week as a special way to close out another successful summer at Franklyn’s Field. Details will be announced once finalized.

“This additional week is really about giving our kids and families one more chance to enjoy Franklyn’s Field before summer comes to an end,” Mayor Lanigan said. “We want to finish the season on a high note and give the children one more week of friends, recreation and summer fun.”

Mayor Lanigan also thanked the City’s Parks and Recreation staff and summer employees for their work throughout the season. “Our staff has created a fun, safe and welcoming environment for our kids all summer long,” Lanigan said. “We appreciate their hard work and their willingness to extend the program and give our families one more week of summer fun.”

The City encourages families to take advantage of the additional week and join us at Franklyn’s Field as we celebrate the final days of another great summer in Rome.
